REGISTRATION POLICY including REFUNDS
PAYMENTS
Registration is done through our online Uplifter system.
Payment must be made in full in Canadian funds.
Payment can be online by credit card. Please keep in mind that until we have received your offline payment, registration will not be considered complete and we cannot guarantee your place in the selected program.
Any person having two or more cheques returned to the club for insufficient funds, or two or more credit card payments declined, must make all subsequent payments to the club by either cash, certified cheque, money order or bank draft. A $25 administration fee will be charged for all NSF cheques.
CHANGES TO SCHEDULE
All known cancelled days have been factored into session pricing.
All WRSSSC programs are subject to change based on enrolment. Affected skaters will be notified, then the revised schedule posted.
REFUNDS
The WRSSSC does not offer refunds/credits without a medical note. All requests for refunds/credits must be put in writing addressed to the Board of Directors and must be accompanied by a medical note. Skaters must have missed a minimum of five consecutive sessions due to that illness or injury before a refund/credit is considered. The only exception to this policy is where there is consensus between the coach and parent/guardian that the child is too young to benefit from the lessons arranged. Such requests must be submitted by the end of the child’s fourth lesson.
Any refund/credit request that is approved by the Board could be issued as a Credit Voucher towards future ice costs (transferable to other family members) within one year.
The WRSSSC does not guarantee refunds/credits in the event of ice cancellations by the Arena, by mechanical breakdown, or acts of nature.
Skate Canada Fees will not be refunded. As a Skate Canada sanctioned club, we are not able to waive this fee.
SNOW POLICY
WRSSSC follows the lead of the Surrey School District when it comes to determining if classes will proceed in snowy weather. If there is no school then there will be no skating. Any deviations from this policy will be at the discretion of WRSSSC and will be communicated via email or our Facebook page. WRSSSC does not offer make up classes nor guarantee refunds/credits in the event of ice cancellations by the Arena, by mechanical breakdown, or acts of nature.
BUY-ONS
Buy-ons must be approved by the STARSkate Coach in charge.
Skaters may only buy-on to sessions for which they are qualified.
Buy-on rates will vary between sessions.
If a group lesson is included as part of a session, there is an expectation that the skater buying-on will participate in the group lesson. If the skater chooses not to participate, they will not be permitted to skate on their own, nor will any portion of the group cost be refunded.
Financial Assistance Policy
The Board of Directors of the White Rock South Surrey Skating Club (WRSSSC) recognizes the cost barrier that may prevent some skaters from joining, receiving coaching, or attending competitions. At the Board’s discretion and with consideration of the financial ability of WRSSSC, the Board may approve financial assistance on a case by case basis.
The Skaters requesting assistance from WRSSSC are required to apply through the three community charitable funding organizations, Jumpstart, KidSport and Athletics 4 Kids prior to the beginning of the skating season. These three community organizations require submission of the application 4-8 weeks prior to the start of the skating year. They all require thorough proof of financial need in the form of income verification and a sponsor or endorser for further verification of financial need.
KIDSPORT – apply online at http://www.kidsportcanada.ca/ or fill out a paper application printed off from their website and mail it in. If approved, they will provide up to a $400 grant per child per year.
ATHLETICS 4 KIDS – apply online at https://www.a4k.ca/ or fill out a paper application printed off from their website and mail it in. The application must be received by them no later than 30 days prior to the start of the skating year. If approved, they will provide up to $600 per year per child.
JUMPSTART – apply online at http://jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/en.html. If approved, they will provide up to $300 per child per skating season to a maximum of $600 per year per child.
If the family is approved by at least one of the three community organizations for financial assistance and the family requests further financial assistance for the child to skate, WRSSSC, at the Board’s discretion, may approve a further grant of up to $400 per child per season. Requests for assistance from WRSSSC must be received by WRSSSC no later than 4 weeks prior to the start of each skating season and be in the form of a formal written request. Exceptional circumstances for financial assistance brought to the attention of the Board by the family, the skater or confidentially by another WRSSSC member, will be considered on a case by case basis.
